    Well done contestants!

  • Iron WebMaster Round 3

    Here's Your Third Challenge:
    Go Green

    General Guidelines
No longer the exclusive domain of doomsayers, the call for sustainability and environmentally friendly lifestyles and technologies has gone mainstream.

Your challenge for this round is to create your choice of a single page or a website with up to three pages that offer "green" alternatives or that explore environmental issues and offer solutions. Likely topics include:

    • Alternative Energies
    • Carbon Offsets
    • Straw Bale Construction
    • Eat Local Challenges
    • Organic Gardening
    • LED Lighting
    • Global Warming
    • Fair Trade Practices
All of these are suggestions, and we encourage you to introduce us to ideas that the mainstream media have yet to uncover. You may also consider designing your site with a "client" in mind, say a manufacturer of solar panels. Mainly, you should focus on offering solutions to our current global/local environmental problems.

Alert! Voting has started, Vote Now!

    Specs
Here are the specific requirements for your Go Green entry:

    • Limit your entry to no more than 3 pages.
    • If you choose to enter a multi-page website, each page must contain distinctly different content.
    • Maximum space you can use, including images, is 250K (Think zero carbon footprint).
    • Gathering and creatively presenting pre-existing ideas and products in a fresh way is acceptable, as long as the content is free of copyright restrictions.
    • You need to insert the comment <!--iwmround3--> in your HTML within the <body>...</body> portion of each page. We suggest at the bottom. This will be replaced with voting and navigation code when the design phase ends and voting begins (The approximate size of the generated code is 500x70 - about like a banner ad.)
    • The design phase ends February 22, 3:00 PM PST. Late entries will be accepted, with a penalty.
    • External links are allowed in this round. Be carefull though! If you lead someone away it is always nice if you can lead them back as well.
    • Upload your files at ftp.ironwebmaster.com. Use your Iron WebMaster ID and password to access the site.
    • Create a new folder under public_html, IWM3, to store your website. Your website will be found at
http://www.ironwebmaster.com/~IWMID/IWM3/filename (replace the IWMID with your ID, and filename with the name of your initial webpage).
Go get started and Go Green!
