Q: What is Iron WebMaster?
A: Iron WebMaster is a competition site administered by WebRing, Inc., that offers a series of website design challenges for people to complete and enter for judging. The competitor who receives and accumulates the most points throughout the competition wins the title of "Iron WebMaster."
Q: Is there a fee for competing?
A: Nope. Iron WebMaster is 100% FREE!!!
Q: Is there a way to participate without competing?
A: Definitely! As a matter of fact, competitors are only the "actors on the stage." And what's a play without an audience (i.e. YOU)? You can participate by voting on the competitors' entries.
Q: Do I have to create an account to use Iron WebMaster?
A: Yes. To compete or be eligible to win prizes you need to sign up with Iron WebMaster. (Read on if you are a pre-existing WebRing member.)
Q: I'm a WebRing member. Do I have to register here?
A: Yes, but we'll make it easy for you. Just sign in with your WebRing ID and password and we'll use your basic WebRing info to create your Iron WebMaster ID.
Q: How do I compete in a round?
A: We'll make an announcement at the start of each round, asking interested individuals to register. Each round will have it's own set of "rules" and "challenges" so you'll want to check each one.
Q: How do I know when a round has started?
A: As soon as we announce the specs for a round, we will send you a notification via email. Keep an eye out for it.
Q: How do I see how my entry is doing?
A: Visit your account for details. Once voting begins your account will be updated regularly.
Q: How are competitors eliminated?
A: They aren't! Unlike many competitions, Iron WebMaster does not use an elimination-based system. We use a point system, with competitors earning points throughout the overall competition.
Q: Do I have to compete in all the rounds?
A: No. Although, you stand a greater chance of winning if you do. To learn more about how points are awarded, click here.
Q: How is a winner selected?
A: By YOU! The public is asked to help choose a winner. we'll also have a panel of "celebrity" judges to help pick.
Q: Who can win prizes?
A: Competitors and judges alike are eligible to win prizes. The winners will win prizes, and we'll also randomly select judges for prizes (usually based on active participation).
Q: What can I win?
A: Whether a competitor or a judge, you can win something from our growing pool of prizes merchandise, software, cash... We'll let you know before each round what's available. Remember, participation is the key to winning.
Q: How do I claim my prize?
A: We'll send you an email notifying that you've won a prize. If you've won a physical prize (vs. downloadable software or items), we will send you an email with a link to a secure form page where you will provide your name, mailing address and telephone number.
Q: Can I sponsor a round?
A: You might be able to. Use the contact form at the bottom of this page and let us know what you're willing to offer. In exchange we'll be able to promote you during the round you sponsor.
Q: What else should I know?
A: This is a FUN event primarily, but we're serious about wanting everyone to win. So we're donating a portion of any proceeds to support technology in schools.
